Watermelons in September?

I'm not much of a gardener, in fact my thumb is pretty black. But that doesn't stop me from trying!!! Back when I started this years' garden I thought it would be fun to grow our own watermelons. 

I reluctantly purchased  three plants and crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. 

Now that October is looming, I had given up hope that the  "baby" melons that were sitting on the vines would ever result in edible full size melons.

Last night my mom was over and said that these melons were ready, I was more than skeptical and I cut one open, and was pleasantly surprised 

It was delicious!!! Maybe if I had any idea of what I was doing I would have known that these were mini melons!
